Doctoral network presentation

The Doctoral Network, ChimSep, aims to make significant scientific, societal, and economic contributions towards the development of the "chemical factory of the future." This vision involves implementing efficient, selective, and eco-friendly transformations in a safe and sustainable manner. To achieve this, ChimSep follows an eco-conception approach for synthesis and separation, in collaboration with associated industrial partners.

The key focus is on catalytic transformations of renewable resources using green solvents and eco-efficient processes. To realize these goals, ChimSep's main objective is to train the next generation of European Scientists/Researchers (PhDs) through innovative and entrepreneurial networks. It brings together two scientific communities - "Chemists" specialized in homogeneous catalysis and "Membranologists" specialized in sustainable membrane separation processes. This collaborative approach fosters the development of greener and safer chemical factories aligned with the principles of green chemistry.

ChimSep's uniqueness lies in its integrated, inter- and multi-disciplinary network, which allows for the optimal development of its young researchers through research-based training. Each of the 13 PhD projects focuses on catalytic reactions and their subsequent separation using organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) and membrane distillation (MD). Close collaboration and constant feedback between the 5 Chemist PhDs and the 8 Membranologist PhDs are essential for successful outcomes.

In addition to scientific training, the PhDs will acquire crucial skills and competencies to prepare them for future careers in academia and/or industry. A comprehensive secondary training program, encompassing various multidisciplinary and soft-skill aspects, has been developed in collaboration with associated industrial partners.

The ChimSep Doctoral Network is committed to fostering innovation, sustainability, and excellence in chemical research and separation processes. Through this initiative, it aims to play a pivotal role in shaping the chemical industry of the future while nurturing the talents of the next generation of scientists and researchers.

Salary

The EU provides comprehensive support for each recruited researcher within the Doctoral Network. The salary package includes:

·         Gross monthly salary: 2,764 €, resulting in a net salary of approximately 2,200 €. Additionally, an annual premium may be granted.

·         Mobility Allowance: 600 € per month. This allowance is available to all eligible researchers within the network and helps cover private mobility-related expenses.

·         Family Allowance: 495 € per month, applicable to researchers who meet the eligibility conditions, such as being married or having a child. Family, long-term leave, and special needs allowances are considered based on the researcher's family status at the time of their first recruitment and remain unchanged throughout the duration of the action.
